What to do when imposter syndrome takes over

It’s rare that I’m afraid of something. Frustrated, yes. Angry even, absolutely. But fearful? I don’t often get fearful over showing up for something to do with my business but lately it’s been a struggle. Thoughts like “do you even know what you’re doing?” and “are you even qualified to teach about this?” were rolling through my head and I’ll be honest, it started to get to me. 

Maybe those thoughts were right. Maybe I should just sit down and be quiet. Maybe I really am a fraud deep down. You know what though?

Everyone goes through those thoughts. Every person on the planet deals with the fear of not measuring up. They deal with the terror of being found out for the fraud they believe they might actually be deep down inside. It’s in those quiet moments when you’re alone with your thoughts that they rear their ugly head. The whispers of “maybe you really don’t know what you’re talking about” run across your mind no matter how much you try to ignore them.

The most important thing you can do is get your feelings out in the open. Hiding them and trying to act like we’ve got it all together helps absolutely no one. When you’re real and authentic about what you’re going through then it gives other people permission to do the same thing. Isn’t that more helpful?
