Why jumping into ideas head first should be your superpower

On Monday I was getting frustrated about something so I reached out to a trusted friend (Lauren da Silva I love you so much). Everyone needs a friend like this in their lives. She let me vent and then she gave me some really solid advice that I immediately started working on. Before I knew it I had an entire course outlined and got all of the videos recorded for it within 48 hours. How did I do that? Let me let you in on a little secret…

Diving into projects head first is one of my superpowers. I sat down and started writing and it kept flowing so I just kept going. I spend absolutely no time overthinking anything anymore. I used to stay frozen in indecision because I wanted everything to be perfect the first time around. Spoiler alert - it’s never going to be perfect the first time around so you may as well just get it out there and pivot as needed.

My qualifications for creating a course is determining whether or not it’s going to help people move the needle in their lives and/or businesses in a tangible way. If my idea won’t do that, I don’t bother creating it. Once I’ve determined that it’s a good idea then I dive in knowing full well that I’ll continue adding to the course even after people are in it. I’m not after perfection, I’m after progress - and you should be too. It’s time to lay off the expectation of perfection. It’s too much pressure and no one can live up to it.

I was often told that everyone has the same 24 hours in a day so if you’re not a millionaire it’s on you. That’s ludicrous. Some people have toddlers running around, others have full time jobs…I have a husband who’s home full time to take care of the kids, do the laundry, clean, feed and hydrate me, etc. I also needed to work up to having the time freedom to work on whatever I want whenever I want. At first I needed to pay the bills so I took on a lot more coaching clients. Now I have the freedom to reduce those appointments and dedicate my week to super fun projects.

If you’re still in the space of getting your first offering out there, please do yourself a favour and give yourself grace. You’ll get to where you want to be but you’ll need to put in some time to do it. Be easy on yourself, stop spending so much time overthinking, and just dive in! Trust me, it’s worth it.
