3 Ways To Reign In Your Anxiety

Has anxiety been getting to you lately? It’s understandable. There’s a lot of craziness happening in the world right now. It can be a real struggle to focus on the positives when you feel like you’re slowly going cray-cray inside of your house. 

Honestly I’ve been okay until today. My six year said something unkind to me and I lost it. I mean ugly crying alone in my room for twenty minutes lost it. I realized that this was a bit of an overreaction so I knew that I was stressed about other things. I gathered myself, took some deep breaths, forgave my little dude for what he said, and moved the heck on. 

The truth is, I don’t want to sit in my anxiety and I hope you don’t either. It’s okay to break down and have a good cry. It can be therapeutic even! But don’t sit in that feeling and feel bad for yourself for an extended period of time. That won’t serve you well at all. These are unprecedented times and it’s ok to lose it every now and then. You get to decide what you focus on though. 

Here are some tips that can help reign in your anxiety through this stressful time. 

  1. Get in nature. Watch the sunrise, go for a walk, do some grounding. Take advantage of the beauty all around you, it will help lift your spirits.
  2. Pray! He is always listening and wants to have a relationship with you. He’s right there waiting to calm your fears and be there for you. Take advantage! 
  3. Let yourself feel all the feelings but don’t feed the negative ones. You get more of what you focus on so be careful what you’re dwelling on.
